5 people have been arrested and 6 others have been declared wanted after a serious incident recorded this Thursday in Radhimë, Vlora, where businessman Vasil Bedinaj reported being threatened and raped by a group of people.
According to the Vlora Police, the incident began around 11:30, when Bedinaj notified the blue uniforms that several people had gone to his hotel and, under threat of weapons and physical violence, had demanded 5 million euros.
According to his testimony and initial investigative actions, the businessman was also threatened with having to leave Albania within 48 hours.
After receiving the notification, the Police set up checkpoints at the entrances and exits of Vlora, Dhërmi, and the Fier and Gjirokastër districts.
At around 12:00, at a checkpoint in the Alikoka District, a black “Range Rover” did not obey the police order to stop. The vehicle continued moving towards Peshkëpi, while the officers gave chase.
In the area of the Peshkëpi Bridge, the driver lost control and the vehicle went off the road, crashing into the protective barriers.
In the vehicle were Luan Muça, 55 years old, the driver, and brothers Klaudio Lleshaj, 29 years old, and Mandrit Lleshaj, 33 years old, both employees of a private security service.
Muça and Mandrit Lleshaj were injured and taken to the Vlora Regional Hospital. According to the Police, their lives are out of danger.
During a search of the vehicle, a pistol was found, along with a magazine with 16 live ammunition.
At around 1:00 PM, at a checkpoint set up by the Fier Police, at the Memorial Overpass, another wanted vehicle was stopped.
At its helm was Kosovar citizen Blerim Heta, 40 years old.
During the search, police found damage to the passenger side window, suspected to have been caused by gunfire. Three pistol cartridges were also found in the vehicle.
At around 4:30 PM, near the village of Kaninë, on the Vlora bypass, an "Audi A8" vehicle was found burning.
Police suspect that the vehicle was used by people involved in the incident.
Preliminary investigations also revealed that during the clash in the hotel premises, citizen Angjelo Breshani took the firearm that Bedinaj possessed with permission and fired at the vehicles of other people.
Police explain that there were no shots fired inside the hotel premises, while the gunfight took place in the courtyard.
At the end of the actions taken, the Police arrested in flagrante delicto:
Luan Muça, 55 years old, resident of Tirana;
Klaudio Lleshaj, 29 years old, resident of Tirana;
Mandrit Lleshaj, 33 years old, resident of Tirana;
Blerim Heta, 40 years old, Kosovar citizen;
Angjelo Breshani, 29 years old, resident of Vlora.
Meanwhile, six other people and four vehicles have been declared wanted, while investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances and role of each person in the incident.
The procedural materials will be referred to the Prosecution for the criminal offenses of "Coercion by Threat to Give Up Property", committed in collaboration, as well as "Unauthorized Possession and Production of Weapons, Explosive Weapons and Ammunition". /LAPSI.al
