Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez tied the knot in a simple, completely private ceremony in the living room of their home in Portugal on Tuesday, after 10 years together. The couple chose a particularly symbolic date for their wedding, as the ceremony took place on the 10th anniversary of their first meeting, when Georgina was working as a saleswoman at a Gucci store in Madrid.
Despite strong rumors that had preceded a spectacular wedding, the 41-year-old Portuguese footballer and his 32-year-old partner chose exactly the opposite: a family ceremony at their home and then a religious blessing.

Georgina explained to Vogue why they decided to get married in their living room. As she said, they chose the place where they eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day and where they essentially live their real family life.
Her wish was, as she said, that in 30 years their children would look at this special table and remember that something special happened there: their parents' wedding vows.
She revealed that when she was little she dreamed of a wedding in a grand castle, with an impressive carriage, a very long wedding dress and a crown full of diamonds. However, as she grew older, she changed her mind and now wanted something much more personal: to be at home with her partner and their children.
"It was exactly as I had imagined," she said, adding: "A private wedding, full of love and with our family in the lead role. I couldn't hold back the tears."
However, Georgina explained that in the future they are also planning an open wedding, in which they will celebrate with their family and friends, without revealing further details.
Both with Gucci
The couple's clothing choices also caused a surprise. They both wore Gucci, a reference to how they met 10 years ago at the store in Madrid, according to the Daily Mail.

Georgina chose a sheer white shirt and skirt, satin shoes and diamond Chopard jewelry. Ronaldo appeared in a light beige cotton suit, specially designed blouse and loafers, while their children wore similar outfits.
Georgina explained that they didn't want to turn such a simple and personal day for themselves into an occasion where everyone would be in overly formal clothes.

Emotions
After the ceremony at the house, the couple drove to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, about an hour away, where a priest gave them his blessing.
There, Georgina could not hold back her tears. The couple will not go on their honeymoon, as they have already returned to Saudi Arabia, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays. The news of the marriage was announced by the footballer himself via Instagram, posting a photo with their wedding rings.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, their spokesperson has confirmed. The couple are now officially husband and wife, the statement said. It was a private and very personal moment, attended by their five children.

Ronaldo's mother, siblings missing
Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias later published a copy of the marriage certificate, which showed that, apart from the children, only four witnesses were present at the ceremony. Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his three siblings, Hugo, Elma and Katia, were absent from the ceremony.

Local media even claimed that the Portuguese star's family was informed that he would marry his partner just moments before the ceremony.
The reaction of his mother and sister
Despite her absence from the ceremony, Dolores Aveiro, who has repeatedly denied reports of a bad relationship with Georgina in the past, commented with a heart on her son's post with the wedding rings.
Ronaldo's sister Katia, who lives in Brazil but traveled to her hometown of Madeira over the weekend to meet relatives and friends, did the same. So far, she has not commented on reports that she and other family members did not attend the wedding.

The four witnesses were Georgina's sister, Ivana, Ronaldo's longtime friend, Miguel Paisao, and Spanish couple José Rodríguez Sangil and Mónica González Martínez.
They signed a prenuptial agreement.
The wedding also took place exactly one year after the couple announced their engagement on social media. Despite making their 10-year relationship official, Ronaldo and Georgina decided to keep their pre-wedding assets separate.
To this end, they signed a prenuptial agreement on August 10, the day before the ceremony, in Lisbon, defining the status of their property as a married couple. ©LAPSI.al
