Five mobile phones were found during a search carried out in the early hours of the morning in sector B of Durrës prison, where the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and several other former officials are being held.
The inspection was carried out by the DAP-Prison Operational Forces. It is not yet known which of the persons in this sector the five found mobile phones belong to. According to sources, the devices were forwarded to SPAK through the BKH, to be examined in the special expertise laboratory.
The expertise is expected to help determine the users of the devices, as well as to clarify the circumstances of how the mobile phones ended up inside the prison premises. Investigations continue to determine whether the devices were used and by whom. We recall that earlier, the authorities also seized and sent Laert Haxhiu's phone to SPAK. While last week, a phone was found in Peqin prison and was also sent to SPAK.
