Five mobile phones were found during a search carried out in the early hours of the morning in sector B of Durrës prison, where the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and several other former officials are being held.
Veliaj's lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, in a reaction to the media, emphasizes that none of the mobile phones belong to the mayor, while clarifying that none of them were found in his room, possession or personal belongings.
"Regarding the news published in some media outlets about the discovery of five mobile phones during a search in Sector B of the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, where Mr. Erion Veliaj is also being held, we clarify that none of the mobile phones reported as found belong to Mr. Veliaj and none of them were found in his room, possession or personal belongings.
"Consequently, any information or insinuation that could link Mr. Veliaj to the found devices is false ," states lawyer Plarent Ndreca.
