Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Evis Sala, has officially confirmed her resignation from office, after about a year in the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama. In a reaction published after the announcement of her departure, Sala announced that today she participated in the government cabinet meeting for the last time.

She explains that the departure is related to the acceptance of several important international commitments in her areas of expertise, including oncology, artificial intelligence, and innovation.

Sala thanked Prime Minister Rama, the healthcare system workers and Albanian citizens, while emphasizing that her commitment to Albania will continue even after leaving her ministerial post.

"Today was my last meeting as a member of the government cabinet, as I have accepted several important international commitments in my field of expertise: oncology - artificial intelligence - innovation.

A year ago, I took on the great responsibility of Minister of Health and Social Welfare, a field full of challenges and difficulties.

I am grateful to Prime Minister Edi Rama for his trust and support, as well as to every doctor, nurse, professional, and employee of the health and social welfare system who worked every day to make the system better.

A special thank you to every Albanian citizen who wrote to me, suggested or asked for more from us.

This year we have made important strides in healthcare. Many of them are visible today, others have just begun.

My commitment to Albania is not tied to a position. It is part of who I am and will continue through my knowledge, experience, and international professional network.

Because tasks have a beginning and an end.

But, responsibility and connection to your country have no limits!"

Andi Bushati: What if Lali gets out of prison?

A pact has been drawn up between the prime minister and the imprisoned mayor to return the latter to office. But what would be the consequence for a justice reform, that the high-ranking officials have kicked down the doors of his cells?

A decisive moment for Albania

It is the first time that Albanians feel they can shape the national debate without waiting for political parties to take the lead. Experience teaches us that democracy depends not only on elections, but also on active citizenship among them.
