The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after the blocking on Instagram of several accounts of citizens and activists who supported the flamingo protest, describing what is happening as an attempt to censor voices critical of the government.
Bardhi compares the situation to what, according to him, happened in Aleksandar Vučić's Serbia during the student protests. "What happened in Vučić's Serbia during the massive student protests against the government is also appearing today in Edi Rama's Albania," he writes.
According to Bardhi, the blocking of several accounts that have been active in covering and supporting the protest is not a coincidence, but part of what he calls the "censorship algorithm."
"This is the censorship algorithm of a Prime Minister who seeks to cover up his failure with the silence of society. To silence opponents and eliminate every critical voice from the public space," Bardhi declares.
He concludes his response by expressing solidarity with the people whose accounts have been blocked: "There is no censorship algorithm that saves a government from the truth."
