The Port of Durres Captaincy announces that it has banned the entry into the port of the ship "Hanuman", a tanker with IMO number 9295048, sailing under the flag of Sierra Leone, yesterday, August 28.
The ship is listed by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency, GUR, and other services as part of the so-called Russian “shadow fleet.” In the official GUR database, the “Hanuman” is classified as a vessel involved in the transportation of Russian oil and its products in violation of the G7 and European Union war embargo and price cap policy, known as the “price cap.”
According to data published by the Ukrainian service, in September 2025, the "Hanuman" transported more than 30 thousand tons of Russian oil products from the port of Novorossiysk to Turkey.
GUR also records cases of automatic identification system (AIS) shutdowns, as well as the ship's entry into Russian ports. The published data for the "Hanuman" also includes some of the ports the ship has visited, including Durres.
The decision of the Durrës Captaincy to deny entry to the "Hanuman" comes at a time when the maritime transport of Russian oil and the use of so-called "shadow" fleets remain under increased international attention.
