A technical failure in the "Albcontrol" monitoring system has caused chaos with travel schedules near Tirana International Airport.
The airport has officially reacted by reporting that, so far, five flights have been completely canceled, while another has been postponed to the next day. In addition to the cancellations, technical problems have caused significant delays for 12 departing flights and 3 more arriving.
It is learned that Mother Teresa Airport has engaged maximum staff in the terminal to manage passengers affected by these changes.
"Due to a temporary technical problem in the air traffic monitoring system by Albcontrol, flights in Albanian airspace were suspended for a few minutes as a safety measure. The problem was addressed immediately and all efforts are currently being made to restore operations to normal as soon as possible."
Tirana International Airport is in constant contact with all relevant authorities and airlines, while managing passengers affected by delays and changes in flight schedules.
