The identification of Leonardo Sinani, the 26-year-old who, at midnight on August 14, 2026, stole 27 million lek from the house of his uncle, Durim Sinani, was made possible by using an investigative trap by the Tirana police and prosecution.
From the very beginning, when his uncle filed a complaint at Police Station No. 6 in Tirana, Sinani was a suspect, but the investigation team had no evidence to directly accuse him of the theft.
Journalist Elton Qyno has learned that Sinani, after robbing his uncle's apartment, returned there again and found the police, his uncle, and his uncle's son, whom he stated he found in a desperate state.
He then drove away in a car, which police, based on video footage, identified as having been used in the robbery by one of the 4 people who participated in the theft of 27 million lek and jewelry worth 5 million lek.
This car was hidden in the premises of a service station in the "Astir" area of Tirana. The police and the prosecution have asked 26-year-old Leonardo Sinani to reveal its location and hand over the car, but he has started giving various excuses that he had given it to a friend.
This friend of his was escorted to the police station and questioned, stating that he had not taken any car from Leonardo Sinani.
Given this situation, the police arrested Leonardo Sinani, initially charging him with "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth." But just 24 hours after the arrest, Leonardo Sinani was released, creating a perception of "salvation" from criminal prosecution.
While he was being held in police custody, he was eavesdropped on in conversation with other people being held as suspects in this theft.
Sinani said that he was able to hide from the theft of his uncle's apartment, as he was only accused of "Acts that hinder the discovery of the truth."
But on the other hand, in addition to these wiretaps, one of his accomplices in the robbery of Leonardo Sinani's uncle's apartment, the arrested Kleand Tomja, had decided to cooperate with the police, revealing the entire dynamics of the event, the plan built by Sinani, the method of entering the apartment, the distribution of the money in the "Air Albania" stadium area and the hiding of the cars in a service station in the "Astir" area in Tirana.
It was all an investigative trap that the Tirana police and prosecutor's office had set for the main suspect of this theft, Leonardo Sinani. Among the many people, family and friends he had invited, Sinani had also invited his brother's son, his nephew Leonardo Sinani, to this evening.
But in parallel with his presence at this family celebration, Leonardo Sinani, along with 3 other people, organized and coordinated a criminal scenario with the aim of robbing the house of his uncle, Durim Sinani.
In this criminal plan, Leonardo Sinani included his 3 friends, Kleand Tomja, Mark Hila and Antonio Budin, to whom he gave all the directions and movements they should make while he was at his uncle's party.
Durim Sinani said that during the hour he was at the bar and they were celebrating, he saw on his phone that the house cameras were not working. He was a little worried, as a camera had left footage on his phone showing a person outside the house gate, but he thought it was nothing serious.
After finishing dinner around 01:00, they returned home and found that thieves had entered the house and stolen money and jewelry. There was more chaos on the second and third floors and the two interior doors had been forced open and the door locks had been broken.
He saw clutter throughout the house, items thrown on the ground and drawers pulled out of sight, empty jewelry boxes thrown on the floor.
He further adds that he went to the kitchen room on the third floor where he had placed family and business money, which he did not find in the box on top of a table.
