Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj decided a few days ago to revoke Anuela Ristan's signature rights. At first, it was considered a clash between him and Rama, since the latter had insisted on her reinstatement, even though Veliaj signed the dismissal the first time.
After Ristan's dismissal, Veliaj did not transfer the firm to someone else. This situation was clarified by his lawyer Plarent Ndreca, who confirmed that Veliaj has decided to exercise his mandate from detention. He even requested that Veliaj be given the conditions to exercise his duty.
"The Constitutional Court has confirmed that Erion Veliaj is the legitimate Mayor of Tirana and has requested that, in assessing the security measure, his mandate as Mayor be taken into consideration.
Mr. Veliaj will exercise every power recognized by law and will request that practical conditions be created for communication with the administration and management of the city.
"If the state recognizes Erion Veliaj as President, it must also enable him to effectively exercise his mandate," Ndreca told TCH.
