SPAK concludes the investigation into the murder of merchant Besnik Hida, an event recorded in 2019 in Lushnja. The Special Prosecution has requested the trial of Ardjan Ahmetaj as an accomplice in the murder of the 40-year-old and the dismissal of the case against Laert Haxhiu and Orgest Bilbil due to insufficient evidence. Ahmetaj is suspected of participating in the Kalashnikov murder of Besnik Hida on October 1, 2019, while he was drinking coffee in the “Skënder Libohova” neighborhood in the city of Lushnja. The 40-year-old was executed by two people who have not yet been identified by the Special Prosecution because they were wearing masks, while Ardjan Ahmetaj played the role of an assistant.
SPAK initially claimed that Laert Haxhiu and Orgest Bilbili, two high-risk individuals, also participated in this criminal event, however, it failed to prove their involvement. The perpetrators at the time were wearing masks and used a car that they had robbed from a couple in Tirana. Hida was the uncle of Zamir Latifi, the young man who was accidentally killed on October 11, 2017 in the so-called "Lushnja massacre", while the target was Xhulio Shkurti, Aldo Bare's nephew. Laert Haxhiu, Anterio Kaloshi and Orgest Bilbili have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the Lushnja Massacre. Laert Haxhiu is currently being tried in the Special Court for a number of other criminal offenses, a trial that is still ongoing. Ardjan Ahmetaj was arrested some time ago in Greece and is serving an 11-year prison sentence for illegal possession of weapons in qualifying circumstances, according to the Greek Criminal Code.
