Severe storms and two tornadoes caused extensive property damage and the death of a woman in several German states overnight. A 58-year-old woman died in Waldorf after falling from a tree, while a 47-year-old woman was seriously injured in the same incident.
Tornadoes hit Fürstenwalde-Spree in Brandenburg and the area around the city of Wetzlar in Hesse, damaging dozens of homes. The German Meteorological Office warned of the possibility of new strong storms, focusing mainly on the southern states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
Media reports say similar damage was caused in the states of Thuringia and Bavaria, where some homes are now uninhabitable.
