
The wait is over: the Europa League is also set to kick off the new 2026/27 season. Friday's draw, on August 28, will determine the calendar of the large single-group stage, a confirmed formula that will have 36 teams at the start. Among them are two Italians: Milan and Juventus. So far, 17 teams are certain, while the other 19 will come from the "play-offs" on August 27 and from the teams that will be eliminated in the Champions League qualifiers, which take place on August 25 and 26. Milan and Juventus will be in the first pot in the draw.

The draw will take place in the Principality of Monaco on August 28, at 1:00 p.m.

Europa League regulations Each team will play a total of 8 matches in the first phase, facing two opponents in each of the four pots (one home match and one away). To maintain the balance of the competition, the main restrictions remain in force: direct matches between teams from the same country will not be possible and each club can face a maximum of two opponents coming from the same national association.
