A match that already seemed compromised, but which turned into one of the most incredible upsets of the start of the season in Saudi Arabia. Al Nassr defeated Al Ettifaq 3-2 after being two goals down and, above all, after playing practically the entire match with one less player. In the middle of all this was also the very special evening of Cristiano Ronaldo, first furious with his teammates and then replaced by Ange Postecoglou at half-time.
The match changes completely in the 12th minute, when goalkeeper Bento is sent off after leaving the area to stop Moussa Dembélé. An episode born from a free kick quickly executed by Al Ettifaq, for which Ronaldo himself visibly protests. Al Nassr is thus forced to sacrifice Angelo to introduce new goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi and remains with ten men for more than 80 minutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo loses his temper, then Postecoglou replaces him
The numerical inferiority becomes more serious and Al Ettifaq takes advantage. Ondrej Duda scores 1-0 in the 31st minute, while in the first half's extra time Alvaro Medrán scores the second goal with a long-range shot. It is in those minutes that the cameras focus on Ronaldo: the Portuguese looks furious and constantly asks his teammates for a reaction, showing all the frustration with the way the match had developed.
But on the way back from the locker room comes the decision that surprises everyone. Ronaldo does not return to the field: Postecoglou replaces him with Abdullah Al-Khaibari, a midfielder, in an attempt to give balance to the team that was left with ten players. For CR7 it was the first match as a starter of the season and it ends after only 45 minutes, with two shots and without managing to get any closer to the goal of 1000 goals in his career.

Al Nassr overturns with ten men without Ronaldo: Mané scores 3-2 in the 90th minute
What happens in the second half makes the evening even more special. Al Nassr, with ten men and without Cristiano Ronaldo, gradually begins to gain ground. After a goal and several chances, in the 74th minute Joao Felix puts Sadio Mané in goal position, who narrows the gap to 2-1. Three minutes later Felix again, this time from a corner kick, serves the ball to Abdulelah Al-Amri for a header: 2-2.
But it wasn't over. In the 90th minute, Sami Al-Najei launched a counterattack and found Mané again, who completed the double and finally scored 3-2. Three goals in the last quarter of an hour, all scored with one less player.

An incredible turnaround that allowed Al Nassr to leave Dammam with a seemingly impossible three points. And it made the evening even more special: Ronaldo furious as his team trailed 2-0, substituted at half-time and then forced to watch from the sidelines as his teammates were overturned.
