
The wait is coming to an end: the Champions League is also ready to start the new 2026/27 season. The draw on Thursday, August 27, will determine the calendar of the large unique group, a confirmed formula that will have 36 teams at the start. Among them are four Italian teams: Inter, Roma, Napoli and Como. So far, 29 teams are certain, while the other 7 will come from the “play-off” phase on August 25 and 26.

The meeting that should be marked in red on the calendar is Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM, when the official ceremony will begin at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Champions League regulations
Each team will play a total of 8 matches in the first phase, facing two opponents from each of the four pots (one home and one away). To ensure the balance of the competition, the main restrictions remain in place: there will be no direct matches between teams from the same country and each club can face a maximum of two opponents belonging to the same national association.
