When the client gives you a red card

When a business owner decides to enter into public debate, to belittle or insult protesters, he cannot expect to quietly go back behind the counter and say: politics is politics, business is business.

Andi Bushati: Why did Rama's campaign against oligarchs arouse fear?

The “Flamingo Revolution” shook society’s way of thinking. Today, being one of the people who benefits from the autocrat is no longer seen as an honorable man, but risks becoming a hated character. This was proven by the wave of reaction against the millionaires of Rama’s court.

Protests against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government are set to continue on Thursday, with protesters planning two separate demonstrations. The first will take place at 10:00 a.m. outside Parliament, coinciding with the plenary session, while the second, marking the 33rd consecutive day of protests, is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The evening rally will begin at Skanderbeg Square before marching to the Prime Minister's Office. Organizers have reiterated that their primary demand is the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, stating that the demonstrations will continue until this objective is achieved. They have also called on citizens from across Albania, as well as members of the Albanian diaspora, to join the protests.

One of the most notable moments during Wednesday evening's demonstration was the unveiling of an improvised bust, which protesters used to convey the message that Prime Minister Rama would meet the same fate as former communist dictator Enver Hoxha.

After marching through the streets of Tirana for about an hour, protesters concluded the rally by announcing a new demonstration outside Parliament on Thursday. Once again, participants chanted anti-government slogans, including "Rama, resign," "Revolution," "Albania wants revolution," and "Rama to prison." Humorous and ironic placards, many inspired by viral social media memes, have also become one of the defining features of the ongoing protest movement.
