Parliament begins on September 8th

September is expected to be a 'hot' political month.

This year, the heat doesn't go away with August. The new political September will be hot not only from polarization, but also from high temperatures.

The first controversy begins with the opening of the new parliamentary session. The opening of the parliamentary session will not be on September 7, but on Tuesday, September 8.

Although the Constitution, in its Article 74, stipulates that the new session begins on the first Monday of September, the Assembly has decided to skip this date.

According to the official holiday calendar, Monday is a day off, as Mother Teresa's Canonization Day this time is on Saturday.

The opening date is the first element where politics thinks differently. In a reaction to "A2", the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, says that the Constitution is above the law.

"I don't think MPs need more days off. The Constitution is above the law on official holidays and, as such, the Constitution must be respected."

But September also brings territorial reform to Parliament, the unilateral proposal of the Socialist Party. The right-wing has opposed it, but now this debate, in addition to the party headquarters, will be moved to the Laws Committee and the Parliament podium.

The division of the territory into 46 municipalities, out of the current 61, according to the leftists, should be approved in early October.

While the territorial reform divided the parties, the electoral reform still remains an island of cooperation between the SP and the DP. According to the objective, by the end of the year, the law on the financing of political parties, amendments to the Electoral Code, including campaign financing, as well as prohibitions on the use of state resources during elections should be approved.

Another task where the parties come together in silence is the adoption of laws to align them with EU legislation.

The President of the Republic will also have a role in this political season, as he must announce the date of the 2027 local elections. According to the Electoral Code, they must be held on the last two Sundays of April, on April 18 or 25, or on the first Sundays of the following month, on May 2 or 9.

But, before going to the elections or the first session of Parliament, the Socialists will have to get over the fever of Prime Minister Rama's plans for possible changes in the party and the government./ A2 CNN
