An unusual incident occurred in the Kombinat area, where officers from Police Station No. 6 arrested a 31-year-old man from India on the roof of the house of a citizen with the initials EP.
An Indian named Manpreet Nanak Chand Manpreet climbed onto the roof of EP in the middle of the night, hoping to enter the apartment through a small skylight and steal valuables from the apartment.
A day ago, the 31-year-old Indian appeared before the Tirana court, where, following the request of the prosecutor, Petrit Vukaj, the capital's court imposed the security measure "prison arrest", as charges of attempted "Theft" have already been filed against him.
This security measure was applied because in this specific case there is a risk of this foreign citizen fleeing Albania. The arrested person himself has refused to speak in court, claiming that he would testify at a later date.
Journalist Elton Qyno has learned that the silhouette of this Indian person, on top of the roof, was initially observed by the homeowner himself at 11:48 PM on August 22, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Indian, Manpreet Nanak Chand Manpreet, was arrested by the criminal police officers of Police Station No. 6 at 01:10 on the night of August 23.
During the arrest, the police determined that two days before climbing onto the roof of EP's apartment, this citizen had been escorted to the police station premises after he had a conflict with a citizen whose car window he had broken.
For this conflict he was released to be investigated at large. But two days later, Manpreet climbed onto the roof of the apartment on "Veli Vraniqi" street in Tirana in the hope of stealing valuables.
The owner of the apartment, a citizen with the initials EP, stated that he was asleep when at one point he heard a noise coming from outside towards the western side of the house. When he went outside the house, he saw on the roof a person who was dark-skinned, had black hair, was thin and about 170 cm tall, and was about 30 years old.
According to the homeowner, this person was standing on top of the roof, but was unable to get inside, as he caught him before he could get inside.
The citizen then notified the police, where a patrol from Police Station No. 6 in Tirana went to the scene, forcing the Indian citizen to come down from the roof and then arresting him at midnight on August 23, 2026.
Recently in Tirana, there has been an increased trend of crimes by foreign citizens, leading to considerable difficulties in identifying them, providing legal interpreters and accommodation in cases where the court imposes the measure of "Mandatory House Arrest".
