The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has received an invitation from the International Democracy Union (IDU) to be part of its delegation to the 2026 Republican National Convention, which will take place in Dallas, Texas, on September 9 and 10.
In the official letter, dated August 7, 2026, the Secretary General and Executive Director of the IDU, Tina Mercep, confirms Berisha's participation as a member of the organization's delegation in this activity.
"IDU is pleased that you will join the delegation and we are convinced that your participation in this historic meeting of the Republican Party will be valuable for you and the Democratic Party of Albania," the letter to Berisha states.
According to the invitation, details on the organization of the delegation, accreditation and the program of activities will be communicated to the participants by the IDU secretariat in the following. We recall that Berisha's visit to the US comes after the State Department's decision to lift the non-grata against the leader of the Democratic Party.
There is still no confirmation from Berisha or the DP that Berisha will accept the invitation and visit the USA. /LAPSI.al
