The GJKKO will hold a session tomorrow at 09:30 to determine the security measure against businessman Ergys Agasi, who was arrested on Wednesday evening in the Plepave area of Durrës after eight months of searching.
A day earlier, Agasi was arrested during an operation coordinated by SPAK and the Special Operations Forces. His vehicle, driven by former police officer Ulian Shpataraku, was spotted in Elbasan and pursued by authorities until it was surrounded in a traffic area in Plepa. During the search, the two arrested were found to be in possession of 4,000 euros in cash.
Agasi is suspected of having established a structured criminal group within the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI) in collaboration with businessman Ermal Beqiri, previously arrested in France.
According to investigations, the group predetermined tenders worth millions of euros in favor of Beqiri's companies, while Agasi allegedly even ordered the kidnapping of business rivals to force them to withdraw from public competitions.
The former head of the National Anti-Corruption Agency, Mirlinda Karçanaj, her deputy, as well as other senior police officials and businessmen, are also under investigation for this corrupt and criminal affair. Agasi is facing charges of criminal group, money laundering, violation of equality in tenders, illegal competition and illegal deprivation of liberty.
