The State Police announced that the Durrës Local Police Directorate and the operational structures of the General Directorate of the State Police, in cooperation with the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), finalized the operation codenamed "The Wanted".
"As a result of the operation, citizen Ergys Agasi, wanted by SPAK, was arrested in Durrës. As part of the operation, citizen Uljan Shpataraku, who was traveling in the same vehicle with the wanted person Ergys Agasi, was also arrested," the announcement states.
Agasi, wanted by SPAK for the AKSHI file, was arrested this Wednesday afternoon in the Plepave area of Durrës. Police sources said he was spotted in the Elbasan area and was kept under surveillance until he was arrested.
Meanwhile, Uljan Shpataraku, a former police officer who was also known as the confidant of the former Director General of the Police, Ilir Proda, was wanted on August 6th after allegedly threatening the waiter and the administrator with his life while on vacation at a hotel in Dhërmi because he did not like the food.
The hotel staff has filed a report with the Himara Police Station, where the police have announced the former police officer is wanted. In May, Skënder Hita dismissed Shpatarak from the police ranks for failure to report to duty. He held the position of assistant in the Information Technology Department of the State Police.
Agasi was wanted by SPAK after, together with businessman Ermal Beqiri and former AKSHI director Mirlinda Karçanaj, they are accused of being part of a criminal group that manipulated public tenders. ©LAPSI.al
