A giant explosion occurred on Thursday at a munitions factory in Colleferro, about 40 km from Rome in Italy. Fortunately, there were no deaths or injuries.
The explosion occurred in a former factory of the company "Simmel", now owned by the group "Knds Ammo Italy", reports Corriere della Sera, and was heard for several kilometers.

It appears that a fire had broken out in the factory before the explosion. The 24 workers who were in the factory at the time of the explosion are in good health. The causes remain unknown.
The company has a history of more than a century in the ammunition sector. It has developed expertise in the design and production of many ammunition components, such as explosives, detonators, metal parts and nuclear warheads.
The factory produces medium and large caliber ammunition for the army and navy, as well as solid propellants for rockets. The explosion appears to have occurred in the explosives compression section.
Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the case, examining the possibility of deliberate arson, Italian media reported. In October 2007, a powerful explosion occurred at the same factory, resulting in the death of one worker and the injury of 13 others. ©LAPSI.al
