An unexpected incident that brought a lot of laughter to viewers during a live television broadcast in the US, when meteorologist Patrick Osborne could not hold back his laughter while presenting the weather forecast.
The meteorologist at Maine's WABI television station was trying to wrap up his morning weather report when he suddenly started laughing nonstop. Despite his efforts to calm down, the laughter grew more and more intense, making it difficult for him to speak.
As he later discovered, it all started with a prank he was trying to pull on his co-host, Josh Gabbard. During a commercial break, Osborne played a clip from “Charlie Brown,” intending to use a characteristic sound as a joke. What he didn’t realize was that the video wasn’t one short clip, but an hour-long collection of clips in which the specific sound was repeated at regular intervals.
So, when Osborne began his weather report, the sound was heard again, startling him and causing him to burst into uncontrollable laughter.
In the video broadcast, the meteorologist tries to continue the forecast, reporting temperatures, amidst laughter and repeatedly apologizing to viewers. The attempt to contain his laughter, however, proved futile. At one point, he even had difficulty forming words, causing him to leave the stage and then return, before "handing over the baton" to a colleague, the incident lasting about a minute.
He explained that being in an environment where he had to remain serious made the situation even more difficult. Speaking later to his co-host, Brian Sullivan, Osbourne admitted that it was a "nervous" laugh that he couldn't control. He explained that he can usually control himself when something funny happens during the show, but this time the incident was different.
TV station WABI posted the clip on social media and the video has received nearly 9 million views on TikTok, with the incident being covered by media outlets across the United States. Osbourne himself said he was initially worried that the incident would cause problems for his job. Instead, however, his spontaneous reaction made him known to a much wider audience.
