Partizani and Teuta opened the new season of the Abyssinia Superiore with a goalless draw, in a challenge where emotions were not lacking, but the nets remained untouched. At the “Vora” stadium, both teams parted peacefully after 90 minutes, while the main episodes of the match came more from mistakes, cards and missed chances than from an offensively rich game.
For both coaches, this was an official debut on the bench. Florin Bratu led Partizan for the first time in the championship, while Edlir Tetova sat on the bench of Teuta for the first time in an official match. In the end, neither of them managed to get the three points, but the way the match was played left more reasons for reflection for the Reds' technical staff.
Teuta squanders the best opportunity
The first half started with a moment that could have given a completely different direction to the challenge. Teuta won a penalty after a wrong tackle in the area, having at the feet of Sherif Kallaku the ideal opportunity to take the lead. But the midfielder from Durrës failed to take advantage. His shot hit the post and the result remained unchanged. It was a golden opportunity missed for Teuta, who had the chance to punish Partizan in one of the most favorable moments of the match. Kallaku would be the protagonist again a little later, this time in an episode where he claimed another penalty. The referee did not consider the opportunity sufficient to award another penalty and the game continued.
Partizan remains with 10 players.
When it seemed that the first half would end without any changes in the score, Partizan suffered a significant blow. Hume was sent off for a harsh tackle on Kallaku, leaving the Reds numerically inferior for the entire second half.
This episode also changed the way Partizan played. With one player less, Bratus' team was forced to retreat, close the spaces and focus mainly on preserving the score. Teuta, on the other hand, took territorial control and sought to exploit the numerical advantage.
Circo becomes decisive
The second half was played mainly in Partizan's half. Teuta increased the pressure and tried to find spaces to shoot, with Umeijego and Pedro trying to break the Reds' defensive organization. However, Partizan resisted. In a match where Bratus' team was put under pressure for a long time, one of the main protagonists was goalkeeper Qirko. His saves, some of which were made with considerable difficulty, proved decisive in securing a point for Partizan.
In this respect, the 0-0 scoreline does not tell the whole story of the match. For Partizan, the draw came after a second half where the team was forced to play defense and withstand the pressure of an opponent who had a numerical advantage. For Teuta, meanwhile, it is precisely the inability to convert this advantage into a goal that remains the main point to analyze.
Two question marks after the first week
For Romanian Bratu, the match brought a point in a difficult debut, but also signals that the team needs to improve in the construction phase and creating chances. Coming out with a point after more than one half of the game with 10 players is a positive aspect, but the offensive performance leaves room for improvement.
In the Durrës camp, Tetova's debut was less convincing than expected. Teuta had the biggest chance of the match with Kallaku's penalty, played against a Partizan team with one less player and had control of the game in the second half, but failed to produce the final shot.
In the end, 0-0 was a result that left both teams with one point each, but with different feelings. Partizani can rely on the resistance shown in numerical inferiority and the form of Qirko, while Teuta must find a way to be more efficient in decisive moments. The season has just started, but this match gave in the first week some of the questions that both teams will have to solve in the future.
