Dinamo were very close to a win that would have put them in a favorable position against Pafos, but another last-minute episode denied them success. The Blues drew 1-1, putting in a strong performance in Elbasan and now qualification for the Conference League stage will be decided in Cyprus.
A big match, a small result
Dinamo failed to reward one of their best European performances with a victory. Against Paphos, at the Elbasan Arena, the Blues produced football, chances and pressure, but in the end had to settle for a 1-1 draw that shifted the entire battle to Cyprus.
The first half was balanced, even with one moment that could have changed the history of the challenge. In the 37th minute, David Luiz missed a penalty for Pafos, while at the end of the half Dinamo had its golden opportunity with Hekuran Berisha.
Dinamo strikes, Paphos responds
After the break, Ilir Daja's team appeared much more aggressive. Dinamo took control, increased the pressure and created a series of chances, forcing Pafos to retreat. The reward came in the 78th minute. David Fadairo, brought on from the bench, did not need much time to make his mark. The striker, on loan from Partizan, scored and Elbasan Arena erupted in celebration. But European football is unforgiving. Just five minutes later, a penalty kick by Lorenzo Vila gave Pafos the opportunity to get back into the game. Lele made no mistake and the score returned to 1-1.
A draw that doesn't change the objective
Dinamo may feel disappointed, because they created enough to win the match. But there is also reason for optimism: facing a strong opponent, the Blues showed that they can play openly and put Pafos under pressure.
Now everything will be decided on August 27 in Cyprus. A week to recover energy, correct details and maintain confidence. Because after the 1-1 in Elbasan, the door to Europe remains completely open. Dinamo just needs to find the key in Cyprus.
