Yael Trepy, the young Cagliari striker admitted to intensive care after a swimming pool incident, has shown significant improvements. The footballer has been extubated and is now alert and cooperative, although he remains under close observation in hospital.
Finally, there are encouraging signs regarding the condition of Yael Trepy, the striker born in 2006, who has been hospitalized in recent days at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari after a serious incident in the swimming pool. The young footballer has taken an important step forward in his clinical journey and the latest news has brought relief to his family, club and teammates. During the day, sedation was gradually reduced and the respiratory support methods were changed. The respiratory condition allowed the doctors to make a particularly important decision: the cessation of mechanical ventilation and then extubation.
Trepy is smart and aware: the newsletter of the AOU of Sasari
The evolution of the young man's condition was explained by Stefania Milia, director of the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department of the AOU of Sassari: "Maintaining optimal respiratory gas exchange has made it possible to discontinue mechanical ventilation and perform, during the afternoon, the patient's extubation". The most important news, however, came after waking up. Trepy in fact showed a good recovery of his state of consciousness: the red-and-blue young man appeared alert and cooperative, with no apparent neurological deficits in his current condition. Respiratory and hemodynamic parameters also appear stable, an element that confirms the progress made in recent hours.
The improvement, however, does not mean that the emergency has finally passed. Doctors continue to be extremely cautious, especially considering the recent extubation and the pulmonary consequences associated with the aspiration syndrome. For this reason, Trepy continues to be hospitalized in Intensive Care, where he will be subject to constant monitoring of his clinical and respiratory condition. The situation therefore remains delicate, but compared to previous days, the situation presents significantly more reassuring signals. The news of the extubation and conscious awakening also had a strong impact within Cagliari, which has followed the development of the situation with concern.
Giulini: “Step by step, Yael, all together”
The red and blue president Tommaso Giulini wanted to share publicly his excitement for the young striker's improvement, expressing in a few words the club's relief: "There are days that seem to never end. Then a piece of news comes and everything changes. A little while ago the one we wanted arrived. Step by step, Yael, all together". Now for Trepy a new phase begins, characterized by monitoring and care. After the fear of the last few days, extubation represents a first and important objective. Cagliari and the entire red and blue world continue to cheer for him, confidently awaiting the next information on his condition.
Ci sono giorni che sembrano non finire mai. Poi arriva una notizia e cambia tutto. Poco fa è arrivata quella che volevamo. Un passo alla volta Yael, tutti insieme. ?? pic.twitter.com/KEWt1PgJsw
