After tensions and expulsions of some DP deputies, 18 items on the agenda

After the violent clashes and chaos of last week, the Albanian Parliament will convene today for another plenary session. The agenda includes 18 items, including an interpellation with the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, as well as several draft laws related to the economy, the banking system, business and the administration of seized and confiscated assets. The session comes after the tensions of October 22, when opposition MPs blocked the floor and opposed the passage of the draft laws to a vote without debate.

In one of the most tense moments, Flamur Noka took the microphone away from Taulant Balla and then tried to take the voting cards from the majority deputies. The clashes also led to the intervention of the Guard, while the Socialists continued voting until the end of the session. At the same time, a protest by students and citizens was taking place outside the Parliament, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. The opposition demanded that the hall also discuss the police interventions and the detentions of the protesters. After the incidents, the Socialist Parliamentary Group requested disciplinary measures against 20 opposition deputies. For six of them, including Flamur Noka, Belind Këlliçi, Edi Paloka and Luçiano Boçi, a 60-day suspension was requested.

In today's session, the interpellation with Blendi Gonxhe, requested by Democratic MP Ina Zhupa, is expected first. Also on the agenda is the new draft law on the Bank of Albania, as well as the normative act that provides for changes to the law on excise duties. The MPs will also review the financial agreement with Germany for the continuation of the university dormitory renovation program, the draft law on the Fiscal Council and the draft law on consumer protection.

An important part of the package is related to business, with amendments to the law on the National Business Center, business registration and commercial companies. Also under discussion will be amendments to the administration of confiscated objects and their use for public interest or social housing, as well as the administration of seized and confiscated assets. The agenda also includes amendments to the law on fishing and several draft decisions on the structure and organization of the CEC and the HIDAKKI.
