Authorities in Croatia have blocked a shipment of dried figs imported from Albania.
According to the RASFF system, the analyses have shown high levels of aflatoxin B1, so the shipment will be destroyed.
Aflatoxin B1 is a known mycotoxin that can be found in contaminated animal feed and a variety of agricultural products.
It can cause acute and chronic poisoning, tumor formation, and changes in neurological development.
So far, the AKU has not issued any statement on this issue. /LAPSI.al
