A section of the “Valle dei Fiori” bridge on the A25 motorway in the Pratola Pellegrino area of the L'Aquila province of Italy collapsed in a controlled explosion. The operation was carried out early in the morning using explosives and involved the westbound lane of the bridge, in the flow of traffic towards Rome.
According to a statement from the construction company, the demolition was carried out after careful planning and extensive preparation, and within a few hours traffic was safely restored on both lanes of the motorway. The operation is part of a wider programme of static improvement and seismic protection of bridges on Italian motorways. ©LAPSI.al
