Four people were killed and 12 injured, one of whom is in critical condition, after an Italian military Chinook helicopter crashed in Bosnia. The helicopter was part of the EUFOR Althea mission. The incident was also confirmed by EUFOR.
In its statement, EUFOR did not specify the nationalities of the victims. It also said the helicopter was carrying out a "routine operation" and that there were no civilian casualties.
A video has been circulating on social media, which, according to Bosnian media outlet Avaz, captures the moment the military helicopter crashed. Initial images from the scene show the scale of the disaster, with the helicopter suffering extensive damage.
🇧🇦🇮🇹 The video shows the moment an Italian CH-47 Chinook crashed in BiH. This is the most serious accident linked to the EUFOR Althea mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2008 when a Macedonian helicopter crashed, resulting in the deaths of all 11 passengers and crew members. https://t.co/DVjKvm7Us1
