An incredible story comes from England, where Amar Dedić, the Newcastle footballer, has unwittingly sparked a major police operation. It all started after the Bosnian was spotted with a bow and arrow while in a rural area. A passerby raised the alarm and six cars sped to the spot where Dedić and a friend were. The investigation may not be over yet, but it seems certain that the footballer and his friend were using the bow and arrow for recreational purposes.
Dedić and a friend on a bow and arrow hike
Amar Dedić moved from Benfica to Newcastle last summer. He has had a good start to his adventure in England, but he has gained media attention for something outside of football and something truly special. On Wednesday, he and a friend were spotted by a passerby near a water reservoir in Northumberland, carrying a bow and arrow. The man immediately called the police, thinking that the two young men had bad intentions. Six police cars arrived quickly from the command center, which stopped and then questioned Dedić and his friend. Both were allowed to leave, but the bow and arrows were confiscated.
A passerby calls the police, who arrive in six cars.
A police spokesman explained to the Daily Mail: "We received a report at around 2pm on Wednesday. We were called to reports of two men walking near a water tank with a bow and arrow. We responded and seized the bow and arrow. It is believed they were being used for entertainment purposes and do not pose a threat to the public."
In England, it should also be remembered that hunting animals with a bow and arrow or a mechanical crossbow is illegal. Newcastle have not commented and do not appear to intend to take disciplinary action against the defender, who has provided four assists so far this season.
An event that certainly seems surreal, to say the least, but it's all true. It almost seems like a scene from a comedy film, with a biting approach to society. Thinking about many specific things, apparently the passerby who notified the police was thinking that way; fortunately, there was nothing to worry about. Surely, the next time he wants to try out the bow and arrow, the footballer will not do it in public.
