Cesc Fabregas commented on Como's incredible 9-1 win over Lens, but without losing sight of the upcoming matches and the need to maintain balance and concentration. The Spanish coach described the evening as a happy moment for the club, but at the same time urged the players not to lose their humility and keep working.
"It's a happy evening, this is football: today everything went in our favor. Congratulations to the boys, now we have to think about a very important match on Sunday. We have to close it as well as possible. It's a beautiful evening for Como and for the boys, but we have to keep our feet on the ground, stay humble and keep working. We have to learn, not to look extraordinary, but to continue to develop good performances."
However, when asked about the goal conceded, the Catalan coach did not hide his displeasure on Sky Sport's microphones. "The goal conceded? Yes, I'm angry. We changed something small: the goal was scored by a former teammate of mine at Monaco and I had never seen him score a goal like that."
The former teammate who angered Fabregas
The player Fabregas was referring to was Ruben Aguilar, the author of a goal of exceptional technical value. The current Como coach and the French player had been teammates at Monaco during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons.

Fabregas: "A beautiful evening for Como, but we have to keep our feet on the ground"
It was a night that will go down in history for the Como club and for Italian football. No Italian club had ever won by an eight-goal margin in a Champions League match before. However, Fabregas's thoughts were already on the next league match, against Inter, before the break that the players will need to recover.
"When I saw that the last two opponents were PSG and Barcelona, I thought we should have taken more points at the beginning, because they are two superior teams. We have a lot of games until January. I think about the recovery of many players that we are missing. That is the most important thing. In attack we have a lot of absences. We have to make a final effort on Sunday, trying to play a good game, and then rest, because we need it."
