Drivers in Giza, Egypt, were confronted with pornographic videos displayed on a large digital billboard above one of the country's busiest roads on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Similar displays were also seen in Malaysia and Brazil on the same day.
The screen is located on the highway connecting Cairo to its western suburbs. Drivers stopped their cars and recorded what was displayed on the board with their mobile phones, and the images quickly spread on social media.
Egypt's Interior Ministry confirmed the incident and said the local advertising company was working with an international provider to stream the content online. According to the official announcement, the provider's website was subjected to a cyberattack that led to the same material being displayed on screens in different countries at the same time.
Egyptian authorities did not name the international provider or other countries in their statement, but said the company had taken technical measures to halt transmissions until the breach was addressed and that legal proceedings had been initiated.
The company said it immediately deactivated the board and is cooperating with relevant authorities to investigate the incident and prevent its recurrence. ©LAPSI.al
