Owono is locked in his house and won't stop crying: "At this moment I don't even know who he is"

While the final tributes were held yesterday for Jesús de Miguel, the Tenerife footballer who lost his life after being hit hard in the chest with a knee during a match in the Spanish second division, the author of the intervention that caused his death continues to remain confined to his home in Andorra, just as his soul is confined in an endless pain. Jesús Owono is a “destroyed” man, that is how those who have seen him in the last hours describe him. The 25-year-old goalkeeper is still in a state of emotional shock and is unable to absorb the tragedy. A close source, quoted by “The Athletic”, explains that Owono “is isolated from the world, at this moment he does not even know who he is”.

The Guinean international footballer has to deal with an incredible, unbearable burden: that of a human life that no longer exists. And, despite everyone continuing to tell him that he is not guilty, he feels all that guilt on himself and who knows how long he will continue to feel that way. Perhaps not even one life will be enough for him. Owono is not alone in this terrible moment – “the most difficult days of my life,” he wrote in his only reaction so far – as in his home there is a constant presence of people who love him and do not leave him alone for a moment, from family to closest friends.

Jesús Owono, locked up at home, is not left alone for a minute

Since the Andorran team returned to the capital of the Principality, the goalkeeper has not left his apartment. His mother is the pillar that keeps him on his feet, helped initially by his partner and by several football friends, who have rushed to be by his side. His former teammates, but also his agents, who have managed his entire career, have been in Andorra, by his side since last Tuesday, the day of the tragedy.

Even his current club, where he moved last year, has rallied around him, starting with Gerard Piqué, the club's main shareholder, who has guaranteed him all the necessary support. Then there are his teammates, coaches and staff, all of whom are doing their part to pull Owono out of the abyss into which he has fallen.

What's going on with the goalkeeper?

He doesn't stop crying, he can't find peace. He's without a cell phone and completely disconnected from social media, to avoid the insults, threats - even racist ones - and hate messages he's received. He's closed his Instagram profile. "He would never hurt anyone," commented one of the team captains. Andorra fans have also handed him a letter of support: "You're not alone, this is your home."

On the other hand, the entire team is shocked by what happened before their eyes. Witnessing the death of a colleague on the field has been devastating and they too need psychological support. The entire Andorran community is united in pain and respect. For the one who is no longer with us, but also for the one who is struggling with guilt.
