Three paintings worth over 9 million euros that were stolen in March from the Magnani Rocca Foundation in the Parma region of Italy have been found and recovered by the Carabinieri Corps. As reported by Reuters, the paintings were found after an extensive investigation.
It is about the painting "Natura morta con ciliegie" (1890) by Paul Cézanne, in pencil and watercolor on white paper, estimated at 6 million euros.
The other painting is "Les Poissons" (1917) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, oil on canvas, signed and dated "Renoir 1917", estimated at approximately 3 million euros.
The third painting is "Odalisca sulla terrazza" (1922) by Henri Matisse, aquatint with colors on paper, estimated at 20,000 euros.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir's painting, "Les Poissons," an oil on canvas from 1917, is considered particularly valuable, with its estimated value at several million euros, as it is one of the artist's few works permanently exhibited in Italy.
The theft occurred on the night of March 22-23, 2026, when a well-organized gang forced its way into the museum after cutting the perimeter iron bars of the gate with a saw, completing the "action" in less than 3 minutes. The perpetrators, with their faces covered, left a fourth painting at the scene when the alarm system was activated, on which biological traces and fingerprints were found that helped in the investigation. ©LAPSI.al
