Aston Villa have filed a lawsuit against Jamie Carragher. The former Liverpool defender has been targeted by the English club after he made comments about a possible move for Unai Emery to Manchester United during the “Stick to Football” podcast. “Aston Villa will never be Manchester United,” the football expert declared.
"I don't want to offend Aston Villa fans, but there is a hierarchy in football, whether you like it or not," Carragher said. "Real Madrid will take Manchester United's best player. There are very few clubs above United and the same goes for Liverpool. There are clubs below Aston Villa from which they can take the new manager and, if necessary, the best players. So shut up Villa fans: you will never be United," he added.
The statement and the tone used did not please the owner of the Birmingham club, Nassef Sawiris, who reacted with an official statement, announcing that he will take legal action against Carragher for his "unacceptable insults".
