VIDEO/ Plane crashes on Miami airport runway, 5 dead

A video posted on social media has captured the moment an Amazon cargo plane skidded off the runway at Miami International Airport, hitting vehicles and killing five people. According to authorities, the runways at Miami International Airport are not equipped with a special crumbly concrete material designed to safely stop planes that overshoot the runway.

According to the New York Times, the FAA has recommended for years that airports install the system, however, this recommendation is not mandatory and airports can use other FAA-approved methods to reduce the risk of aircraft running off runways.

In another video, the Boeing 767-300 is seen landing, but for some reason its right rear wheel does not touch the ground, with many people raising questions about the speed of the plane's approach. In addition to the 5 fatalities, 5 other people were injured, 3 of whom are in critical condition.

The plane that crashed was built in 1994, according to Cirium data, with Boeing describing it as the "most versatile" and "most cost-effective" wide-body and mid-size cargo plane, with a total cargo volume of 15,469 cubic feet. The fatal plane had taken off from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. ©LAPSI.al
