VIEWS/ The driver was unconscious, an off-duty police officer stopped the car

A security camera in Brooklyn, New York, captured the dramatic moment an off-duty police officer realized the driver of a vehicle had passed out at the wheel. He rushed to stop him before he caused a more serious accident.

The video shows the car running a red light and stopping in the middle of the road. The car is then seen spinning while the driver is unconscious.

An off-duty NYPD officer noticed the dangerous situation. He wasted no time rushing to the vehicle and attempting to enter its interior while it was still moving.

The officer was eventually able to stop the car, park it, and then get the driver out of the vehicle. He immediately began administering first aid and performing CPR in the middle of the road, continuing until emergency services arrived.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning, September 6, near the intersection of 60th Street and 8th Avenue in Brooklyn. According to authorities, the driver had blacked out while driving.

The officer's immediate response was praised by New York City Councilwoman Susan Zhuang, noting that his intervention prevented not only serious injuries to the driver himself, but also an accident with pedestrians who were in the area.

As she pointed out, there were children, the elderly and other pedestrians on the road and, if the vehicle had continued its uncontrolled course, the consequences could have been very serious. ©LAPSI.al
