DP submits request for establishment of Investigative Commission for

The DP submits a request for the establishment of an Investigative Commission for “KAYO”. The Democratic Party MP, Klevis Balliu, stated that recent developments have raised serious questions related to national security, state control and the company’s activity in the arms and military technology sector. According to Balliu, one of the names that requires full verification is that of Ron Yeffet, for whom the MP raises questions about his relations with structures linked to KAYO, as well as the reported connections with Edi Rama’s circle. “The name of Ron Yeffet requires answers. Likewise, any information on his involvement in the investigations related to the AKSHI file requires verification. If this circumstance is confirmed by the competent bodies, then we have an even stronger reason to clarify all economic and institutional relations”, declared Balliu.

He has also raised questions about the creation, on March 23, 2026, of the company “Timak Horse Club”, with beneficial owner Ron Yeffet, and the connection of its activity with “Equos Resort” in Petrelë. Balliu emphasizes that the chronology between the creation of the company and subsequent developments related to the assets of Ergys Agas and “Equos Resort” does not constitute, in itself, evidence of a criminal offense, but according to him it is a circumstance that must be verified by the competent institutions. The DP MP requests that SPAK verify any possible connection between Yeffet, Agas, “Equos Resort”, “Timak Horse Club” and the persons or entities involved in the AKSHI investigations. The focus of the Investigative Commission, according to Balliu, should also be the way in which KAYO's partners were selected, the contracts concluded, state control over the activity, the import and export of weapons, as well as respect for international obligations and national security interests.

“Parliament is not seeking to replace SPAK. SPAK must investigate any suspicion of criminal offenses. Parliament has a constitutional obligation to exercise parliamentary control and to shed light on political and institutional responsibility,” said Balliu. He called on the government to vote in favor of the Investigative Committee and to make all documentation available to it. “If there is nothing to hide, why should the government be afraid of a parliamentary investigation? If KAYO was created in the interest of defending the country, then transparency must be complete.” Balliu concluded the statement with a political warning: “When it comes to weapons, public money and national security, no one can be above the law. Not Edi Rama, not people close to power and no private company. The Albanian state cannot be a shield for anyone.”
