Three members of a Romanian family (father, mother and brother) have been escorted by police after they attempted to smuggle prohibited items into the Women's Prison in Pogradec. The case was discovered the day before, when the family members had gone to visit their relative, who is serving a sentence for fraud in this prison.
While checking the bags of clothes they had brought for the convict, prison officials discovered that they had hidden a knife and a mobile phone. The Romanian family had arrived in Albania just two days earlier.
The investigation team is working to clarify the reasons for the knife attack, as the convict had no conflicts with other prisoners. After the incident, a search was also conducted in her cell, where no other illegal items were found. Investigations to fully clarify the case continue.
