The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, announced that over the last two weeks Tirana has been faced with violent acts, as a result of which 201 police officers have been injured.
Hita stressed that police structures have intensified investigative work to identify the persons involved in the violent actions. According to him, so far 52 persons have been identified, who are suspected of having committed acts of violence, despite their efforts to hide their identities.
He added that investigative work and the review of security camera footage continue.
The Chief of Police also called on parents to be careful and not allow minor children to be involved in acts of violence, underlining that the Police will act in accordance with the law.
"In these two weeks we have been faced with violent acts, 201 police officers have been injured and wounded. Our structures have intensified the work to identify them. 52 people have been identified for violent acts, despite efforts to hide their identities. Investigative work and examination of cameras continue. I repeat the call to parents: be careful and do not allow minor children to become part of the violence. The police will act in accordance with the law. The right to protest is not prohibited, but violence cannot be justified," said Hita.
