Around 5,000 body cameras have arrived in Albania and are expected to be distributed to all local directorates of the State Police.
The process will initially begin at the Tirana Local Police Directorate, where the cameras will be given to Traffic Police officers. They will wear the devices throughout their service hours.
Subsequently, the use of cameras is expected to be extended to other State Police structures throughout the country.
One of the main features of this system is that the cameras will be directly controlled from the Police Operations Rooms. This means that they can be activated and monitored from the respective room.
According to the envisaged mode of operation, officers will not be able to interfere with the recording of footage or delete it.
We recall that the State Police had body cameras before, but shortly after use they disappeared as if by magic without explanation.
