Iran is seeking to bolster its military defenses through a new deal with Russia, seeking to purchase advanced S-400 air defense systems. According to foreign media reports, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, through a special envoy, requesting the supply of military equipment.
The request comes after US and Israeli strikes, which have damaged a significant portion of Iran's air defense systems. Confidential documents also reveal a strategy by Tehran to deepen military cooperation with Russia and China, including the development of missile systems, drones and air defense.
However, it remains unclear whether Moscow will accept the S-400 request, as Russia itself faces major military needs due to the war in Ukraine. The cooperation between the two countries is seen as part of Iran's efforts to strengthen its strategic positions and prepare for the possibility of a new conflict with the United States.
