Three people were pulled out dead after a private helicopter crashed near the Sifnos heliport, in the Tholos area.
They are the helicopter pilot and the 2 passengers who were on board the private Belavia helicopter that crashed shortly after 6 pm in the Tholos area of Sifnos, near the heliport.
Immediately after the crash, a fire broke out. Rescue teams and firefighting forces rushed to the scene of the tragedy, who immediately tackled the blaze.
The helicopter crashed near houses. It had taken off from Markopoulo and crashed while landing on the island.
According to the Fire Department, the Fire Department Operations Center was notified of the incident today, August 17, 2026, at approximately 6:17 p.m.
2 firefighters with 1 vehicle are operating, while a rescue team is traveling from Syros with the Fire Department's RAFNAR motorboat.
