The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has harshly attacked Prime Minister Edi Rama during a meeting with Albanians in New Jersey. Berisha accused the government of increasing the cost of living and the mass exodus of Albanians from the country. According to him, prices are rising significantly, while rents have reached levels comparable to the average salary.
He described the current government as a “hybrid model between the extreme left and drug cartels,” claiming that Rama is depopulating Albania “at an apocalyptic pace.” Berisha also touched on the investigations against former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. He accused the majority of obstructing justice by not voting to lift her immunity after SPAK’s request.
According to the DP leader, Rama has concentrated power and blurred the separation between party and state. He also claimed that the majority is using the numbers in the Assembly to protect senior officials from justice.
