Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, analyzes the consequences that, according to her, the KAYO affair has on Albania's European integration process.
Tabaku argues that the procedures followed in the defense sector and in public tenders violate the principles of transparency, competition and the rule of law, which are at the foundation of negotiations with the European Union.
According to her, the KAYO case is not an isolated case, but a manifestation of the way the system established by the socialist majority functions, with centralized procedures, lack of transparency and favoritism of a limited group of companies.
"This scandal affects the foundations of the state and highlights the system on which the socialist majority is built," Tabaku declares.
The Democratic MP emphasizes that the consequences of the affair directly affect three chapters of the negotiations and, indirectly, four more chapters. According to her, the Stabilization and Association Agreement, which she describes as "the bible of the integration process," is also violated.
Tabaku lists a series of issues that, according to her, have hindered Albania's progress in recent years, mentioning the law on strategic investments, the port concession, the NAKSHI affair, and the issue of the former deputy prime minister's mandate.
She links the lack of progress to a governance model that, according to her, has produced corruption, higher costs for citizens, and the departure of young people from the country.
"There is only one answer: the Rama system. Without overthrowing this system, there is no European future for Albania," Tabaku concludes.
