Murder of Albanian on Valentine's Day, trial begins in London
Lorik Abazi

The murder of 22-year-old Albanian Lorik Abazi outside a London bowling alley on February 15 this year has gone to court. The young man was attacked with a knife in a car park in the early hours of that morning. Ellis Anim-Annor, 29, from Bromley, has been charged with the murder.

The BBC reported that he denies killing Abazi and injuring a second person. In court, Anim-Annor and his girlfriend, Ines Bernado, had spent Valentine's Day evening at a bar where Abazi was also with his partner and friends.

The prosecutor said there had been no problems inside the scene. The two groups left around 1:00 a.m. and the defendant went to a nearby McDonald's restaurant, where he could order from the drive-thru.

He then allegedly returned and confronted Abazi's group outside the bowling alley. The prosecutor told the judges that the reason for the altercation "was not entirely clear." He said that "there are some suggestions that someone from Lorik's group had previously made comments about Ms. Bernado's appearance."

He said the confrontation turned into a fight and claimed the defendant "was armed with a knife" and used it to stab Abazi in the heart. The court was told that 2 other people in Abazi's group suffered injuries caused by cuts or stab wounds.

Emergency services were called at 01:19. Abazi was treated at the scene and taken to University Hospital Croydon where he died at 02:01. The other two injured men were taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting. The trial continues. ©LAPSI.al
