The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has reacted through a public statement, opposing the classification as secret of a decision that, according to him, was not made available to him, raising questions about the possibility of recognizing and challenging it through legal channels. This concerns the decision to transfer him to Fier prison.
"It took 31 hours to finally be told that the decision is secret!", writes Veliaj, describing the situation as an attempt to deny the possibility of recognizing the act and effectively exercising the right to appeal.
In his reaction, the mayor shifts the debate to the legal basis for classifying the decision as a state secret, considering this development another phase of what he calls arbitrariness in decision-making.
"So, not only is the act not made available to us, but the intention is to deny us the opportunity to effectively recognize, oppose and appeal it," says Veliaj.
He further requests that the authorities make available the documentation justifying the classification of the decision, by addressing it directly to the responsible authority.
"Please provide us with the authorization of the Prime Minister of the country that authorizes you as a classification authority," concludes the reaction of the mayor of Tirana.
