Giant plumes of black smoke covered the outskirts of Elbasan this afternoon, after a fire that engulfed waste deposited on the banks of the Shkumbin River.
Drone footage shows thick smoke rising over the area. It is suspected that among the burnt debris may be vehicle tires mixed with other materials.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the police and fire service are at the scene and are working to extinguish the fire.
Similar cases have been reported in this area before, and it is not known whether the people responsible have been identified.
