Former President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, invited to "Inside Albania" on Euronews Albania, spoke about her political future, the possibility of taking the leadership of the LDK, but also whether she would consider the position of Prime Minister of Kosovo.
Asked if leading the LDK is still part of her long-term vision or if she wants to return to teaching, Osmani said that she currently does not have a definitive answer.
“This is a question that I don’t have an answer to right now. I have to admit, there have been so many times in my life when I’ve said: Okay, politics is over for me. I want to go back to teaching and that’s it. Maybe this is one of those moments, but then things can just be so unpredictable in Kosovo politics. Because I’ve seen so many of these situations, I can’t really give a definitive answer at this point. It will depend on a lot of things,” Osmani said.
She said that at this moment she wants to return to teaching, spend more time with her family, but also continue her commitment to the causes she supported during her time as president.
"If you ask me what I want to do at this moment, I really want to go back to teaching and spend more time with my family. But also to get very involved in some of the causes that I worked for as president and now as former president of Kosovo, to continue with those causes," she said.
Osmani also spoke about the possibility of running again for the position of Prime Minister in the future, recalling that she had considered this possibility in 2019.
“There is no challenge that I am afraid of at this point in my life. I have to tell you, none. I haven’t really seen it though, especially in the last two years. There was a time when I was thinking about it, around 2019, when I also ran for prime minister. I’m no longer at the point where I think that’s what I want.”
However, she did not definitively rule out such a comeback in the future.
"We'll see how things go, it's not something I plan or want at this point. But never say never. Of course, like I said, there are so many things I ended up with that I wasn't planning at all. Sometimes it's like things change or turn upside down in a month. I'm not even talking about years, but in a month, or less," Osmani said.
